Phuket is a gastronomic city with a diverse food culture. Muslim food culture is no exemption as we have Muslim friends who live in many parts of Southern Thailand.

Located in Phuket’s Old Town, this restaurant specialises in curry dishes. They also cook great Roti, a kind of flat rice flour. Normal Roti is mixed with egg or banana and served with milk as a dessert. But here in Phuket, the way locals eat Roti is to put curry onto the Roti.

You can add some flavour to your meal by ordering ‘Iced Milk Tea’ or ‘Teh Tarik’, as it is known in Malaysia and Singapore. The way they brew the tea is quite interesting. They have two jugs and they pour the tea back and forth between those two jugs until the tea and milk are very well-blended. Plus, from this style of brewing, you will see lots of air bubbles on top of the tea glass when served. The taste is really good.

‘Roti with Curry’ is, therefore, one of favourite local breakfast or lunch dishes. At Aroon Restaurant, they have various choices of curry like fish, chicken, and beef. The curry made for eating with roti is not very spicy.
