The local cha chaan teng (tea restaurant) is a HK institution, but often they are places of tired interiors, mediocre food and terrible service.
That said, Cheung Hing is not your typical cha chaan teng. It is well off the tourist map; almost all diners are local residents as it is located in a residential suburb. The interior is sharp and nostalgic, and the service is as friendly as it gets in this type of eatery.
The food is also on point. The polo bun (pineapple bun – so-named for its sweet, crunchy top that bears a resemblance to the fruit) here is a must-try, as they do many variations of it.
