In this day and age, children and adults are constantly exposed to technology and gadgets. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to spend some time exploring the coastal backyards in Singapore while taking a close look at wildlife?

Young Nautilus, founded by educators equipped with degrees in Life Sciences and Marine Biology, is an education enrichment partner for schools and families. They provide the expertise and conduct nature walks for small groups to exploration sites such as Coney Island, Punggol Promenade, Labrador Park, Sungei Buloh, etc.

My family took up the tour to Tanjung Rimau on Sentosa and it was an eye-opening experience for all of us as we got to examine a handful of marine organisms up close! Our Young Nautilus Team Leader was very knowledgeable and we learned so much about these wildlife animals that can be found in our own backyards.

Children are encouraged to step forward to get a closer look of the marine organisms.

The Young Nautilus team leaders are also educators who are equipped with the pedagogy skills required to inspire learning through application and inquiry-based activities.

A checklist is handed out to participants so they can “check” the organisms they have identified during the tour.

Prior to the tour, the Young Nautilus team would search the site for suitable organisms and place them in recyclable containers. At the end of the tour, these creatures would be released back into the wild where they belong.

My daughter got a sense of achievement as she received her award certification for joining the tour as a Young Intertidal Explorer!
